WHAT ARE THE NEEDLES LIKE?
Acupuncture needles are small and hair-thin. They are solid, not hollow like needles used by doctors. The end of an acupuncture needle is smooth and rounded. Only sterile, disposable needles are used so there is no risk of infection.
DOES IT HURT ?
People experience needling differently. Often people describe their sensations as warming, heavy, numb or tingling. Addie uses a gentle needling technique because patient comfort is a priority. Patients should feel very relaxed while the needles are in place.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREAMENT?
After a thorough intake has been completed, you will lay down on the massage table and the gentle insertion of needles will be placed at certain points on the body. You will then be left to rest with the needles for 20-30 minutes with periodic check-ins to ensure that you are comfortable. Most people fall into a deep place of relaxation or even fall asleep.
DO I HAVE TO BELIEVE IN IT FOR ACUPUNCTURE TO WORK ?
No! Acupuncture works whether or not you think it will. Acupuncture is even used successfully on animals and children. A positive attitude helps with any type of therapy but it is not necessary to believe in acupuncture (or to feel it working) for it to work.
HOW QUICKLY CAN I EXPECT TO FEEL BETTER?
Because every person is unique, customized treatment plans are designed for each patient. Acupuncture is proven to have a cumulative effect. In general, patients should start to feel significant benefits from acupuncture in 2-3 treatments. Acute issues tend to resolve quicker than chronic ones. Once health is restored, patients may return every few months to help maintain health.
DOES MY INSURANCE COVER ACUPUNCTURE?

Addie is more than happy to check on your alternative medicine benefits. Please call the clinic at 503.512.8663 for more information.
